The Postgraduate Teacher Apprenticeship Programme is a nationally recognised, work-based route into teaching. Apprentices work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have the option to study for a PGCE. Recruitment for this route into teaching is growing, with more schools wanting to develop their own teachers. With impressive funding available to schools in some subject areas, for example, £28,000 passed to the school for chemistry, computing, maths and physics apprentices, it really is worth engaging in.
